Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction.”  Proverbs 18:20 NLT

I think we can all identify with the satisfaction of a good meal. That feeling of contentment and comfort that we typically not only find in the food, but in the company of others. It is different and not quite as satisfying to eat a meal alone, even if it is the same food. Satisfaction often comes through others.

For many years when we would visit my in-laws the initial moments were always the same. After the initial greetings, smiles, and hugs, I remember the first words my mother in law would always say: “John, are you hungry?”  She would take great joy in ensuring that we were well fed an satisfied. There a few people who have the gift of hospitality and ministering through good food and fellowship. My mother in law was one of them. Satisfaction came to others through the work of her hands.

While some of us might not have the gift of preparing food, we are all able to help bring contentment and comfort to others through our words.  We can bring satisfaction through the application of our words,  or more specifically through God’s Word.  And God is able to satisfy more than any meal ever could.   “You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy.”  Psalms 63:5 NLT

There are hungry people all around you. They need wise words. The word of the Lord.

“For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”  Psalms 107:9 NLT

This week when we see people, let us be prepared to speak wise Words to satisfy the needs of others.

In His Hands,

John
