“A person who gets ahead by oppressing the poor or by showering gifts on the rich will end in poverty.” Proverbs 22:16 NLT

In our day “climbing the corporate ladder” is a common expression that describes the effort to rise in position in an organization. Climbing a ladder is a good metaphor that describes both effort and progress to get to a desired goal.

But “A person who gets ahead by oppressing the poor or by showering gifts on the rich will end in poverty.”
Proverbs 22:16 NLT.  In other words, when that ladder includes stepping on others or manipulating others to get to that goal, that metaphorical ladder will one day collapse.

The corporate ladder is not an inherently bad thing, but if you try to rise up by pushing others down, your efforts will be in vain.

This week don’t let ambition take priority over how you treat others
