Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die; save them as they stagger to their death.” Proverbs 24:11 NLT

Rescue and save, instructions to help those in need.  Instructions not just for lifeguards and defense attorneys; but for all of us.  This scripture is a reminder to be both observant and to take action.  James warns us against not doing so.

“Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”  James 4:17 NLT

It is a sin not to act when it is in our ability to do so. Protecting innocent life should be one of the priorities of our lives.  Because life is precious to God, it should also be precious to us. And those things that are precious should be cared for and protected. We have a responsibility to do what we can to protect innocent life.

When I think of innocent life, I can think of no other larger group of people that are unjustly sentenced to die than those that are in the womb and are targeted for an abortion.  They need to be rescued and saved.

We may have different degrees of ability or influence to take action, but what we cannot do is ignore the issue or leave it to others. Laws of the land may help, but rescue plans need to reach hearts to change lives. Reaching hearts seldom occurs through laws and arguments, but rather through love and kindness.

This week, consider what it is that you can do to rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die.

In His Hands,

John
