“Putting confidence in an unreliable person in times of trouble is like chewing with a broken tooth or walking on a lame foot.” Proverbs 25:19 NLT

God is always trustworthy, and He is always faithful. Men and women are not always. We may need to trust God more, but we are not called to blindly trust others.

We want to be kind, we want to be loving, but we also need to be wise. Just as you cannot reason with and unreasonable person, it is not wise to rely on an unreliable person.

If you have had a broken tooth or a broken toe you are familiar with the constant distraction and fixation on the problem.  Each step, each bite is a reminder of the problem. Putting confidence in a unreliable person will yield similar results. It will demand your attention and distract you from nearly everything else.

This week, trust the Lord with all of your heart and be discerning about who else you put your confidence in.

In His Hands,

John
