“Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword, or shooting them with a sharp arrow.”  Proverbs 25:18 NLT

This week the Proverb gives us a word picture of the horror of how words can afflict others. If we could physically see the damage of hurtful words, we would see pain that is equivalent to that of brutal weapons slashing into the flesh of another.

Words have power and lies told about others can inflict injury and pain.

We were told a lie as children that words would never hurt. They do. And sometimes our words can cause wounds that never heal, or scars that are constant reminders of painful experiences.

This week speak instead of lies and hurtful words, speak words of life and speak well of people behind their backs.

In His Hands,

John
