A Key to Success

“Commit your actions to the Lord , and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3 NLT

I don’t know that I have ever met anyone who was anxious for their plans to fail. When we make our plans, of course we want them to succeed. What kind of things should we do to avoid failure?  Prayer, counsel and careful planning are all elements that should be pursued, but additionally, committing our actions to the Lord before making our plans will increase the likelihood of success.

We must be careful to consider our definition of success, before judging the status of our plans. I am not certain that things always turn out the way we want them to, and often times success is defined differently in the eternal than it is in the world. But when we commit our actions, the things we do, to the Lord our plans will be considered a success. Success may not be defined by the destination, but rather by the process, the motivation of our actions, and our faithfulness to persevere.

Committing our actions to the Lord is the key to success.  What’s the alternative? Do your own thing and hope for the best? Or worse yet, do the opposite in rebellion. That would be foolish.

This week if you want your plans to succeed, commit your actions to the Lord.

In His Hands,

John
