Final devotion in the Proverbs series
Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise. [Pro 31:30-31 NLT]
Last week we looked at the beginning description of the Proverbs 31 woman looking at verse 11. Verses 12-29 go on to describe her reputation, placement and value to her family and in her home. This week we read that while these may be the observations and results, it is the woman who fears the Lord who is to be praised.
It is too easy to go through life and appreciate the things that are done by others but be neglectful in letting them know our appreciation and give them praise. The woman who fears the Lord and does her best to walk in His ways, should be rewarded for all she has done, and she ought to be publicly praised. For those of you who have had such a godly woman as a mother, spouse, sister or daughter be certain to reward her and publicly declare her praise.
How fitting to conclude the book of Proverbs with the exhortation to praise those that walk in His ways. After many verses of instruction, the real test is a heart issue. We are to love God and love others. Jesus expressed it this way:
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ [Mat 22:37-39 NLT]
Love God and Love your neighbor. A wonderful way to conclude this series and beautiful instructions to follow.
In His Hands,
John
Note: This blog started on 3-25-2019 and was the thing that started the Work and Faith Matters ministry (Originally named Seeds to Life). Since that time there have been hundreds of devotions published as we made our way through the book of Proverbs and learned life lessons of wisdom along the way. This will be the last devotion in the series.
Work and Faith Matters has developed more into a ministry to leaders along the way with discipleship studies, coaching, and Lifework Leadership in the Dallas Fort Worth area. This blog has been a valuable part of the journey but will not continue in the same format. More to come as we enter the new year.
Please keep us in prayer as we determine the next steps and pray for Gods’ provision to continue. Thank you to all who have subscribed and faithfully participated in this journey through the book of Proverbs. I would love to hear from you if this has blessed you in some way.
