A servant who deals wisely will rule over a son who acts shamefully and will share the inheritance as one of the brothers. Proverbs 17:2 ESV

There are a few stories of those who are born into fortunate families that are appreciative of what they have been given and work to bring honor to their family names. But unfortunately there are far more stories of those who have more of a sense of entitlement and bring scandal instead. 

This passage indicates that It isn’t your biological heritage that will ultimately determine your fate, but rather the application of wisdom in all of your dealings. 

Truly there is great satisfaction in earned success, and reasonably little in unearned inheritance. 

This week be a servant, deal wisely, and enjoy the blessings that are certain to come.
