“A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who chases fantasies ends up in poverty.” ‭‭Proverbs 28:19 NLT‬‬

Years back there was a popular television show called Fantasy Island.  On the show, they arranged events for people to live out things they had always hoped for or wanted to do. They could become movie stars, magicians, or Cinderella’s for the weekend. Reality was different than fantasy, and those that chased their fantasies rarely saw them turn out as they had hoped.

The show theme could have very well have been taken from Proverbs 28:19. “.. a person who chases fantasies ends up in poverty.”.

Fantasy is not to be confused with a goal, a dream, or a vision. The dictionary defines fantasy as:” the faculty or activity of imagining things, especially things that are impossible or improbable.” Imagining things that are impossible or improbable. It is denying the reality of using what you have been given.

If you are 5 ft 4, you probably are not going to make it in the NBA.  If you struggle, like I do, to draw a straight line with a ruler, you probably aren’t wired to be an artist.

Fantasies may be entertaining, but they are not real. Rewards come to those who work hard, poverty comes to those who chase fantasies.

This week align your pursuits with the gifts that you have been given.

In His Hands,
