“Rich people may think they are wise, but a poor person with discernment can see right through them.” Proverbs 28:11 NLT
If you want to be great at something learn from someone who is great at it! Do not try and learn from someone who is quite the opposite.
Warning Classic TV references ahead!
You wouldn’t want to take driving lessons from Mr. Magoo! (anyone remember him?).
You wouldn’t want to take boating lessons from Gilligan!
You wouldn’t want to take home repair lessons from Moe, Larry and Curly!
But some things, just aren’t that plain.
Just because someone is rich, it doesn’t mean they are wise and just because someone is poor it does not mean they aren’t shrewd. In fact, riches can be deceptive, and poverty can be enlightening.
Perhaps one of the worst deceptions is someone who is not self-aware.
“Rich people may think they are wise, but a poor person with discernment can see right through them.”
This week, seek to learn from those who are skilled and experienced, don’t take advice from the unqualified, and do your best to be self-aware.
In His Hands,
John
