“Human desire is never satisfied.”
Advertisers know this and so they target you with phones, cars, clothes, food, cosmetics, and medication ads. We know it, we expect it, and they still do it. Why? Because it works.
We always want something new.
Satisfaction doesn’t come from acting upon our desires, it comes from controlling them. We don’t get peace from acting on our anger, we get it from controlling it. Sinful desire is never quenched.
Those sinful desires are what the enemy uses to lure us away. Away from what? As with anything the enemy perverts what the Lord has intended for good. Desire is not bad, but the object of it can be. Desire for the Lord and things of the Lord is good and as we nurture those desires they grow. And when our desire for the Lord grows, it makes us better and further conforms us into His image.
This week, nurture your desire for the things of the Lord, you will be better off for it.
