“When the godly succeed, everyone is glad. When the wicked take charge, people go into hiding.” Proverbs 28:12 NLT
I have quoted it before, but it is appropriate to mention once again to help illustrate this week’s proverb:
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
While the quote’s origin is suspect, most attribute the basis of it to Edmund Burke who lived around the turn of the 18th century. The statement is old, but the proclaimed truth is timeless.
How do the quote and the proverb relate? When the wicked take charge, the godly go in to hiding, and when the godly go in to hiding, the wicked take charge.
But, “when the godly succeed, everyone is glad.”
The message is clear. Help the godly to take charge and succeed, it is good for everyone. In this country we help the godly succeed by giving then our support and our votes. We help the wicked succeed when we do nothing.
This week, consider how you can help the godly succeed.
In His Hands,
John
